RALEIGH – Slovakia native Lea Klimentová has signed a National Letter of Intent to join the NC State women's golf team next season, as announced by head coach Page Marsh on Thursday.
"I'm so excited to announce that Lea will be joining our Wolfpack family. She blends passion, talent, positive energy and commitment," said Marsh. "From the moment I watched Lea compete I saw in her game not only her athleticism but also her joy to compete. She is a gifted athlete and intelligent young woman who uses her abilities to play the game and to compete from the heart. She exudes optimism and enthusiasm.
"She's focused on commitment and excellence not only for herself, but for others. She understands and embraces that college golf combines an individual sport in a team setting during the collegiate years. We play golf as a team in college; the 'l' supports the 'we'. Lea comes from a family who serves and helps others in their lives. She has grown up in a tight knit family that has a great respect for excellence and education. They enthusiastically work to help others achieve. For all these reasons I'm delighted to announce that Lea has placed her commitment with the Pack."
Klimentová will arrive in Raleigh in the fall of 2018 with an impressive resume, as her latest accomplishments include:
"I had never thought about studying and playing college golf in the United States until I met Page and she introduced NC State to me," said Klimentová. "I realized that this would be great opportunity for me. The reason why I started thinking about NC State was Page. She is a great mentor and motivator, and I felt like we could achieve great things together.
"My final decision was made on my official visit, where I immediately fell in love with the school. I loved the university, the team and my coaches, and it felt like second home to me. I'm excited to start another chapter of my life at NC State."
