RALEIGH – For the second consecutive year the NC State women's soccer team has earned a berth to the NCAA Championship on Monday night, as the Wolfpack will host Arkansas in the first round Saturday at 1 p.m.
The program continues to add to its impressive resume this season, as this marks the first back-to-back appearances in the national tournament since 1995-'96. This will be the first time the women's soccer program has ever hosted an NCAA Tournament match at Dail Soccer Stadium.
NC State is 14-5-1 this season and finished conference play with a 6-3-1 record, the most overall and conference wins for the program since 1995. The team finished third in the ACC standings with 19 points, its highest placement since 1995, and advanced to the ACC Championship semifinals for the first time in more than two decades.
Overall, NC State is 10-11-4 in the NCAA Championship and has advanced out of the first round nine times. Last season the Pack made a historic run to the Sweet 16, defeating Minnesota in penalty kicks and Pepperdine 1-0 to advance to the third round for just the fourth time in program history.
