Raleigh, N.C. – An unexpected turn of events led to two PackPros taking the field together on Sunday at the Patriots vs. Dolphins game.
With Tom Brady suspended until Week 4, second-string quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo had been calling the plays. That is, until the second quarter when he walked off the field with a shoulder injury.
This gave rookie Jacoby Brissett the chance he needed. Brissett took the field for the first time in NFL regular season, after finding action in the preseason.
Brissett joined fellow rookie and NC State alumnus Joe Thuney. Brissett completed 6-of-9 passes for 97 yards. His first completion also happened to be his longest, a 37-yard pass to TE Martellus Bennett. Thuney had some big blocks at guard to help the Patriots to their 31-24 win over the Dolphines.
Brissett is expected to start at quarterback during Week 3 vs. the Texans on Thursday, September 15.
David Amerson turned in a solid game for the Oakland Raiders with eight tackles and one interception, when he picked off Eagles' quarterback Matt Ryan in the endzone. The Raiders fell to the Eagles, 35-28.
Four touchdowns were the product of PackPro Philip Rives on Sunday. The Chargers quarterback completed 17-of-24 passes for a total for 220 yards, leading to a win over Jacksonville, 38-14.
Audie Cole (Vikings), Dontae Johnson (49ers) and Stephen Tulloch (Eagles) made impacts on their respective defensive squads.
Seahawks' quarterback Russell Wilson threw for 22 completions, 254 yards, but failed to connect for any touchdowns. Seattle's only points came from placekicker Stephen Hauschka on one field goal to score the Seahawks only points of the day against the L.A. Rams. The Seahawks fell to the Rams, 3-9. Hauschka is 3/3 on field goal this season.
T.Y. McGill put up some good defense for the Indianapolis Colts, who fell to the Broncos 20-34.
Juston Burris one tackle for the Jets to help Buffalo Bills 37-31
Willie Young had a big game for the Chicago Bears, accounting for 7 tackles and 1 sack in the 14-29 Monday Night loss to the Philadelphia Eagles. Stephen Tulloch had 3 tackles for the Eagles.
Mario Williams had one tackle for the Dolphins against the Patriots, but has been questionable with a concussion.
