2016 #PackCamp: Practice No. 4
8/4/2016 12:49:00 PM | Football
RALEIGH, N.C. - The 4th day of 2016 #PackCamp featured NC State in half-pads for the second straight day.
Transcript of head coach Dave Doeren's postpractice comments on Thursday:
On LB Germaine Pratt:
He had his shoulder operated on at the end of the spring and we're doing everything we can do to get him ready. He's never redshirted obviously so he would have that opportunity. We're just going to take it day by day. It will be an opportunity for Germaine, after moving positions, to get his body where he wants.
His size, his football IQ is incredible, his love of the game. He studies film – offense, defense, special teams – a linebacker's got to be that kind of person. He can see things before they happen sometimes. I'm really excited about him when he's back.
On RB Johnny Frasier:
He's gotten better. Day 4, he's been out here every day and been through every drill. He's more focused. He's getting better.  When we get to a live situation we'll see if he'll run through some people like he did in the spring. Him and Reggie [Gallaspy] are similar in size, but he has a lot of speed. He's a 4.5 guy. The biggest thing for him is playing fast. He's a fast person, but sometimes when you're thinking things through you're not fast on the field. Getting him where he's not doing that any more is a work in progress, but it's coming.
On if Frasier has pressure on him:
I think so. Any kid who is put up there on a pedestal like he was from a small town is going to have pressure. Everybody in that town probably told him how great he was for every-how-many years and then you get here and they expect it to be immediate and that's not always the case.
On RB Reggie Gallaspy II:
Reggie is a thinker. He's a pleaser. He wants to do everything right. Early on he was learning the system. He missed all of spring because of his foot so now he's having to do it all over again. Once it clicked for Reggie where he was playing instead of thinking you could really see who he was.
On any true freshmen who have stood out:
Nick McCloud has had several good days in a row at corner. Isaiah Stallings has really done a nice job. He's a very rangy kid. Kelvin Harmon's made a few catches. Those are the ones who've really stood out.
On DE James Smith-Williams:
He's a sleeper now. He's gained 50 pounds since he got here and he still runs a 4.5. And he's a tremendous guy and everyone loves being around him. He's such a good teammate.

The Pack will return to practice tomorrow morning, the first practice in full pads.
