2016 #PackCamp: Practice No. 2

Transcript of head coach Dave Doeren's postpractice comments on Tuesday:
On Jaylen Samuels' position:
He plays multiple positions. I didn't know it was a great debate. He plays our H-Back, which is one of our tight ends, and then the h-back lines up at wide receiver and when we need him in the backfield - because you know last year we had four tailbacks get hurt - we put him back there. Will he be in the backfield a lot? Depends or the health of our backfield.  He will definitely be our H like he's been.
Is the secret out on Jaylen Samuels?:
If it's not, people aren't watching film. The guy is a really good football player. I know a lot of people, when we play, are pointing at him which is great. We have other players we can get the ball to. You earn that by your play.
On strong safety Josh Jones:
He's been healthy and able to stay in it. Any time you have a sustained period of time where you're able to go through everything without injury it's good. He's done a great job academically and hasn't put stress on himself off the field because he's handled his business. He's grown up a lot.
His maturity level from last year to this year … I'm not sure you'd say 180 but it's close. He's grown up a lot. He was humbled. When guys play well like he did as a freshman – he was recognized as a freshman All-American - they think it's going to be easy the next year and it's not. You have to earn it every year and I think he learned a lot.
On Jones' move from strong safety to free safety:
Free safety for us lines up to the boundary, which is the short side of the field. Strong safety has the wide side of the field. It just puts you in a different environment. A lot of the plays are the same. You're in the run game a little bit more when you're in the boundary. You're playing more on a tight end and on the field side you're playing more on a wide receiver. He's really fast so getting him in the middle of the field helps him as well.
