Frantova Named To All-ACC Academic Team

Rising senior continues to add to resume
GREENSBORO, N.C.- Rising senior Martina Frantova of the NC State women's tennis team was recognized by the conference office for her success on the court and in the classroom Thursday afternoon, as she was named to the 2016 All-ACC Academic Team.

A transfer from Mississippi State, this marks the first mention of her career as she continues to add to her strong collegiate resume with the Wolfpack.

The Bratislava, Slovakia, native recently finished at No. 45 in the final ITA singles poll and 48th in doubles play. She is the second player in program history to hold top 50 rankings in both polls at the same time.

More than a month ago she was named to the All-ACC second team and claimed the 2016 ITA Carolina Region Player to Watch award. She compiled a 14-10 record in singles play at the top spot of the lineup, as 12 of those victories were over nationally ranked opponents. In doubles play she holds a 16-11 ledger on the season.

A business administration major, she was the fourth player in Wolfpack history to garner a NCAA Singles Championship bid, as she also helped the program earn its first trip back to the NCAA Championships since 2013.

Minimum academic requirements for selection to the All-ACC Academic Team are a 3.0 grade point average for the previous semester and a 3.0 cumulative average during one's academic career. Athletic achievements during the most recent season are also considered in selecting the All-ACC Academic Team.
