Versatile forward addresses immediate need for the Wolfpack
RALEIGH, N.C. – The NC State men's basketball team bolstered its front court with the addition of Quitman, Miss., forward Darius Hicks.
Hicks, a 6-7, 210-pound athletic forward, addresses an immediate need in the front court for the Wolfpack. He played last season at 22 Feet Academy in Greenville, S.C.
"We're excited to have Darius join us," said NC State head coach Mark Gottfried. "He addresses an immediate need for us, has good length and athleticism, and has the versatility to play multiple positions."
As a starter for the 22 Feet Academy National Team, Hicks had an impressive senior season, averaging 14 points and 9 rebounds per game. Hicks shot 58-percent from the floor and played alongside five other Division I signees, including three from the SEC, one from the Big West and one from the Sun Belt. The team went 26-9 and was the only team in the country to defeat national champion Oak Hill Academy.
Hicks joins Dennis Smith Jr. in the Class of 2016. Smith is considered the best point guard in the class and enrolled early in January, while he healed from a knee injury.
