
NC State Jumps to No. 27 in ITA Polls

SKILLMAN, N.J. - The NC State men's tennis team jumped up 13 spots to No. 27 in the latest ITA poll. The Wolfpack (11-7, 1-1 ACC) defeated No. 7 Wake Forest, 4-3 on Sunday to fuel the move in the polls.

In singles rankings, Nick Horton moves to No. 58 and Simon Norenius jumps up to No. 73. The top-two singles players both split their singles matches this weekend. Both fell to individuals from Virginia Tech, but rebounded nicely in straight-set wins over opponents from Wake Forest.

Horton defeated Jon Ho, 6-3, 6-2, while Norenius defeated No. 113 Romain Bogaerts, 6-4, 6-3. The win is Norenius' fifth victory over a ranked opponent this season. Horton is up to 11 wins this spring season and Norenius has 14 victories this spring.

NC State joins nine other ACC school currently in the rankings. The conference also boasts four schools in the top-10.

The Pack will face No. 42 Georgia Tech Sunday at 12 p.m., as it continues its 2016 spring season.
