Ryan Held and Hannah Moore earn nod
GREENSBORO, N.C.- After splitting with Texas last weekend on the road, the NC State swimming and diving team swept the ACC Swimmer of the Week honors, as announced by the league office on Tuesday afternoon.
Â
Ryan Held was named ACC Male Swimmer of the Week while Hannah Moore was tabbed ACC Female Swimmer of the Week.
Â
Held, a junior from Springfield, Ill., played a vital role in helping the No. 3 Wolfpack men take down two-time defending national champion Texas, which is currently ranked second in the latest national poll. He won the 50 and 100 freestyle and anchored the winning 200 medley and freestyle relays.
Â
In the 50 free he stopped the clock at 19.49 and in the 100 posted a time of 43.10. Both times are NCAA 'B' cuts as his 100 free mark is currently the second fastest in the country.
Â
On both relays he posted split times of 18.85 and 18.90, as the Wolfpack's 200 free relay time of 1:18.86 is the fastest in the nation and its 200 medley relay time of 1:27.10 is No. 3.
Â
Moore continued her dominant season in the distance events for the Wolfpack women, as she holds nine individual wins in dual meet action. She won the 500 and 1000 free and 400 IM at seventh-ranked UT, defeating her opponents by at least six seconds in each event. Her 1,000 free time is currently No. 2 in the nation while her times of 4:43.13 in the 500 free and 4:15.35 in the 400 IM are NCAA 'B' cuts.
Â
NC State will return to action next weekend as it hosts the NC State GAC Invite Nov. 17-19 inside the Greensboro Aquatic Center.
