NC State trio lights up the big leagues Friday night
Buchanan collected his first Cubs win with five shutout innings against the Reds, allowing two hits and a walk with three strikeouts. Rodon struck out 10 for the second-consecutive outing, the first major league pitcher to do so since Eric Gagne, May 17-21 in 2003. Rodon went six innings with three runs, two earned, on three hits, three walks, and 10 punchouts to score the victory. Turner became the fourth player in MLB history to hit 10 homers and steal 30 bases in 100 or fewer games, joining Bobby Bonds, Davey Lopes, and Rickey Henderson. Turner finished the evening 2-for-3 with a walk, two stolen bases, his eighth triple of the year, and a game-tying RBI single.Â
