Frantova Listed No. 35 in Latest ITA National Poll

Martina Frantova is listed at No. 35 in the latest ITA singles poll, No. 6 in regional poll along with Joanna Nalborska at No. 13 and Amanda Rebol at No. 19

RALEIGH - NC State women's tennis fall standout Martina Frantova is ranked No. 35 in the latest Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) singles poll, released Tuesday afternoon.

In her first run with the Wolfpack the junior transfer from Mississippi State tallied a 16-3 fall-season record, including wins at International Tennis Federation (ITF) events. As an unranked preseason player Frantova defeated five ranked opponents highlighted by a 6-3, 6-4 victory over No. 5 Josie Kuhlman of Florida. She advanced to quarterfinal or semifinal rounds of play in four of the of the five fall tournaments she competed and ended the 2015-fall season at the US Tennis Association (USTA) Clay Court Invitational earning the singles tournament championship.

Frantova also is ranked No. 6 in the ITA Carolina Regional rankings along with Joanna Nalborska who is listed at No. 13 and Amanda Rebol who is listed at No. 19.

Frantova, Nalborska, Rebol and the rest of the Wolfpack women's team will open the 2016 season Jan. 23 in Raleigh with a doubleheader event facing Winthrop and North Carolina A&T.
