State Starters: Defensive Line

RALEIGH, N.C. - With just 10 days left until NC State's season opener versus Troy, the depth chart is beginning to take shape. For the next several days, we'll be releasing the depth chart position by position.
DEFENSIVE LINE
Youth is the word when it comes to the Wolfpack's defensive front. Position coach Ryan Nielsen rotates his units frequently so depth is key here. Of the 12 positions on the defensive line, there is one graduate student, a junior, a redshirt sophomore, four true sophomores and one redshirt freshman and four true freshmen listed!
Mike Rose is the granddaddy of this young group, with 36 career games and 20 tackles for loss under his belt. Monty Nelson is back from a series of injuries and also brings experience, as does sophomore B.J. Hill, who started five games a year ago. Â
Sophomore Kentavius Street, the strongest player on the team, has moved from end to tackle and his pass rush abilities from that spot should be a benefit versus spread teams. Bradley Chubb moved from linebacker to end during the spring and has a motor (and a mouth!) that never stops. Expect him to be a playmaker.
The line has solid depth in veterans Pharoah McKever and Justin Jones and a group of talented true freshmen.
