RALEIGH, N.C. - With just 11 days left until NC State's season opener versus Troy, the depth chart is beginning to take shape. For the next several days, we'll be releasing the depth chart position by position.
OFFENSIVE LINE
The offensive line played a major role in the Wolfpack's success last season, paving the way for a rushing attack that set a school record in yards per rush (5.2). Three starters return from the 2014 unit that got better every game.
The veteran of the group is graduate student Joe Thuney, who has played at every position on the offensive line during his 28-game career. Thuney will be back at left tackle this season, where he started 10 games in 2013, but can also shift to guard if necessary. Backing the vet up will be true freshman Emanuel McGirt, who has shown great promise during preseason camp.
Alex Barr, another graduate student, will get the nod at left guard. Another versatile player, Barr started at both guard spots in 2014 and also spent part of the preseason at tackle. Redshirt freshman Garrett Bradbury, who redshirted last season as a tight end and spent the spring on the defensive line, has shown great aptitude for his new position in the past two weeks, moving quickly into the backup role.
Quinton Schooley has been the mainstay at center each of the past two seasons, starting the last 24 games there. Right guard Tony Adams, who started nine games at that position as a true freshman in 2014, can also switch to center if necessary. Bryce Kennedy will back up Adams at the right guard spot.
Two redshirt freshmen have spent fall camp battling for the job at right tackle. Tyler Jones came out of spring practice as the starter as Will Richardson missed part of spring ball with an injury. This fall, Richardson has gained the lead as the starter. JUCO transfer Daris Workman is also battling for playing time on the line.
