#PackCamp Day 14: Bring the Heat!

RALEIGH, N.C. - After taking the day off from all physical activities, the Wolfpack was back in action on Monday morning with a two hour workout at the Dail Practice Facility. The day marked the hottest thus far in the two weeks of preseason camp, but head coach Dave Doeren was pleased with how his team faced the heat.
Â
"Today was the hottest day of camp and we were in full pads so it was good to get them out there," Doeren said. "But I thought they pushed through it for the most part. Some of them hit the wall, but that's a good thing for them to see. They have to be ready."
Â
Doeren told his team in the post-practice huddle that the weather in their first four games could end up being hot ones. "The weather can't impact how good a player you are," he told them.Â
Â
Notes on Day 14
Scrimmage Review: Doeren said what he saw on Saturday – good back and forth between the offense and defense – was what he saw after watching the film from the first scrimmage.Â
Â
"It was good to see some guys for the first time live," he continued. "Jaylen Samuels continues to make plays for us. The receiving corps is getting better and I thought both [Johnathan] Alston and [Jumichael] Ramos had consistent days with the ones. I think it was a really good measuring stick to see what we need to do the next couple of weeks."
Â
The Weekend: Doeren took the team bowling on Saturday night to give them a "mental break." On Sunday, the team didn't not practice or lift weights. "We just met and had a lot of recovery … a bunch of good meals and meetings to get them back where they need to be."
Â
2 minutes:Â The team worked on two minute drill today. Doeren told the team that the two-minute drill was important because it "gives the opportunity to the offense to take the lead or the defense to put a nail in their coffin."
