#PackCamp Day 11: Finish

RALEIGH, N.C. - The sun was bright again today as the Wolfpack football squad took the field for its 11th day of fall camp. The team practiced for 2 hours and 15 minutes at the Dail Practice Facility in 'half-pack' – or shoulder pads and shorts.
Â
Head coach Dave Doeren said he liked the way his squad "stayed up and competed" during the practice. "We spent a lot of time on our third-down packages, which was good for both sides. We are continuing to see guys work hard and push each other."
Â
Doeren also noted improved performance from his offensive line on Friday morning. "I thought the O-line protected a lot better today and picked up a lot of different looks from the defense. We moved the ball at the end."
Â
NC State's practices are divided into five-minute periods, with a big emphasis on the third and fourth quarters. "Everything is about finishing," Doeren continued. "Finishing a play or a series or a drive or a quarter or a half or a game. You can't just do that on Saturday. It's something we try to train every day so they understand the importance of winning every quarter."
Â
Notes on Day 10
Scrimmage! The team will scrimmage for the first time on Saturday in Carter-Finley Stadium (sorry, it's closed to the public!) and then will have a highly anticipated day off of practice on Sunday.
Â
Doeren's goals for the scrimmage? "Be healthy, be physical and have as few penalties as possible."
Â
Top Wolves: Doeren singled out safety Germaine Pratt in front of his teammates in the postpractice huddle. "It was fun to see him at the end really take command of the drill. He really did some good things there."
Â
He also praised defensive tackle Coult Culler and safety Hakim Jones for their performance.
Â
An intense battle:Â Doeren also singled out the play of two redshirt freshmen who are battling tooth and nail for a spot at offensive tackle:Â Tyler Jones and Will Richardson.
Â
"These two guys are playing hard and they're fighting and they're helping each other," he said. "We need those guys to rise up. It will help the offensive line if we've got two guys who can play instead of one."
