RALEIGH, N.C. – The NC State wrestling team was recognized by the The National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) and Elite Level Sport Marketing (ELSM) with both the Masterful Mission award and the Top Highlight Reel for the 2015 season.
The Masterful Mission award is presented to the program that most effectively branded its mission on social media during the 2014-15 season. The selection committee also evaluated teams based on how well their values matched the missions of the university.
NC State made an impression on the selection committee this year with their #PackMentality mantra. The Wolfpack wrestling team and staff were heavily involved with all promotions and video content that was sent out on the team's social media sites, earning them the top honor in the Masterful Mission category.
"We are excited to be able to share our vision and brand through social media," said NC State Head Coach Pat Popolizio. "We are honored to accept the Masterful Mission Award as it is important for us to share our philosophy with fans and the wrestling community."
The selection committee was very impressed by the way that NC State managed to not only promote their team motto, but also display it throughout creative content. As well as Masterful Mission, NC State also earned the Best of Brand Achievement award for Best Highlight Video.
In the Highlight Reel category, NC State finished at the top of the list with their well-produced and highly motivating introduction video.
The Best of Brand Awards were founded by Elite Level Sport Marketing CEO Coyte Cooper following the 2011-2012 season, with the mission of promoting and growing the sport of wrestling.
