Freshman earns academic honor for performance in the classroom

Cecily Overbey, who just completed her freshman season on the NC State women's golf team, was named a WGCA All-American Scholar.

Overbey, a business management major from High Point, N.C., helped the Wolfpack earn a berth into the NCAA Women's Golf Championship. Her best performance of the season was at the ACC Championship in Greensboro, when she shot 2-over to tie for 17th place.

Criteria to be included as a WGCA All-American Scholar are among the most stringent in collegiate athletics. The minimum cumulative GPA to be honored is 3.50.
