Brissett named to Maxwell List, while Rose earns Bednarik mention
RALEIGH, N.C. - Wolfpack senior quarterback Jacoby Brissett and senior defensive end Mike Rose have been named to the preseason watch lists for two prestigious national awards, the Maxwell Football Club announced today. Brissett has been named to the Maxwell Award list, while Rose is on the preseason watch list for the Bednarik Award.
The Maxwell Award, named in honor of Robert W. "Tiny" Maxwell, has been given to America's College Player of the Year since 1937.  Maxwell's contributions to the game of football were extensive, including time as a player, a sportswriter and an official.
Brissett, is the only returning player in the Power 5 conferences who posted at least 2,000 passing yards, 300 rushing yards and 20 passing touchdowns while throwing five or less interceptions,
The Bednarik Award has been presented to the College Defensive Player of the Year since 1995. Chuck Bednarik, former standout at Penn and with the Philadelphia Eagles, is a member of both the College Football Hall of Fame's Class of '69 and the NFL.
Rose tallied 15 tackles for loss last season, more than all but one other returning ACC player. He has played in 38 career games, tied for the team lead.
