RALEIGH, N.C. - Wolfpack senior quarterback Jacoby Brissett has been named to the preseason watch list for the Manning Award, sponsored by the Allstate Sugar Bowl. The Manning Award recognizes the nation's top quarterback.
Brissett, who earlier this month was named to the preseason list for the Maxwell Award, is the only returning player in the Power 5 conferences who posted at least 2,000 passing yards, 300 rushing yards and 20 passing touchdowns while throwing five or less interceptions last season.
The dual-threat QB already ranks ninth in school history with 23 touchdown throws.
The winner will again be selected by a voting panel, which includes national media and each of the Mannings, after the bowls.
Inclusion on the Watch List is not necessary for the quarterbacks to be selected for the honor. Midseason additions to the Watch List will be announced on Wednesday, October 14. The list of 10 finalists will be released on Wednesday, November 25. The winner will be announced on Wednesday, January 13.
This year's Watch List includes players from all 10 Football Bowl Subdivision conferences. The ACC leads the way with five selections, followed by the SEC, the Pac-12 and the American with four each.
