RALEIGH, N.C. - The NC State wrestling team was ranked in the top-30 nationally among the National Wrestling Coaches Association's All-Academic teams. As a team, the Wolfpack posted a GPA of 3.029, finishing up the 2014-15 campaign that included a 16th place finish at the NCAA Championships, two All-Americans, and a second straight national champion.
The team grade-point average was determined using a system that includes 12 student-athletes from each program.  A total of 10 of these came from the wrestlers that were entries in the NCAA tournament conference qualifier.
Additionally, Nick Gwiazdowski (285 pounds) and Pete Renda (174) were also recognized on the NWCA All-Academic Team. Gwiazdowski is currently majoring in parks, recreation and tourism management, while Renda is a business administration major. Both were named to the 2015 All-ACC Academic squad as well.
Awarded annually, the NWCA All-Academic Team contains 118 student-athletes and of those, 28 were All-Americans. This year's list also includes half of the Division I champions and eight of the 20 wrestlers who competed in the finals in St. Louis back in March.
