Wolfpack Rifle Concludes Action at GARC Championships

OXFORD, Miss. - Sophomore Lucas Kozeniesky advanced to the finals of the air rifle event to headline the NC State rifle team's performance at the 2015 Great America Rifle Conference (GARC) Championships, held at Ole Miss' rifle range.
Kozeniesky matched his career-best score of 591 in the air rifle discipline to advance to the finals of the event with one of the top-eight scores. The Fairfax, Va., native recorded 43 centers and fired a perfect score of 100 on the fifth relay. In the finals session, he claimed sixth place with 121.1 points.
The sophomore finished just outside the top 20 in aggregate total with a combined score of 1160 (591 air rifle + 569 smallbore).
As a team, the Wolfpack finished ninth with a total score of 4584, after recording a score of 2313 in air rifle and 2271 in smallbore. West Virginia won the event for the sixth consecutive year with a score of 4709.
Postseason awards were also given out at the championships, as Kozeniesky was named to the honorable mention smallbore all-conference team, while freshman Derya Pekari was tabbed NC State's scholar-athlete.

The Wolfpack will return to action on Saturday, March 7, when it travels to Charleston, S.C., to compete in the South Eastern Air Rifle Conference (SEARC) Championships. The Citadel will serve as the host for the event.
