RALEIGH, N.C. – The NC State rifle team will look to make a #STATEment this weekend when it heads to Charleston, S.C., for the NRA Sectional/NCAA Qualifier Match. The competition will be held at Inuoye Marksmanship Center on the campus of The Citadel.
The Wolfpack enters the competition with a 21-7 record on the season and last competed at Ohio State on Feb. 1.
“We’ve had some really good training sessions over the last couple of weeks, fine-tuning and working over some small rough spots,” said head coach Keith Miller. “Several of our shooters had some fantastic practice scores, so a lot of the hard work seems to be paying off. We're looking forward to the match and hope to see some strong scores.”
NC State’s score at the qualifier match will be added to its three match average for the season to determine if it will be among the top eight teams nationally and earn a trip to the NCAA Championships.
For individuals, the scores fired at this match will be used to select NCAA Individual Invitees. These individuals will be announced after the Team Selection next week, as they must come from schools other than the top eight (this is a new NCAA rule this year).
