Men’s Tennis Competes at Seahawk Invite

WILMINGTON, N.C. – The NC State men's tennis team competed at the Seahawk Invite over the weekend. The team recorded a perfect record in doubles play, and won three singles matches. This marks the team's fifth fall tournament this season.
Doubles:
Shoti Meparidze and Chris Mikrovas continued their doubles partnership this fall, playing together in their second straight tournament. The duo won both of their matches. On Saturday they defeated Canyon Teague and Stathi Kyriakides of Richmond, 7-6(3). On the final day of the tournament, they defeated UNC-Wilmington's Santtu Leskinen and Javier Restrepo, 6-4.
Singles:
In Friday's singles action, Mikrovas led the way with a big win over the Seahawks Taylor Cramer, 6-1, 6-0, while Meparidze fell in tight match to Wilmington's Xander Veys, 5-7, 6-3, 6-4. Michael Ogden also dropped a match UNC-W's Gianlucca Massa.
On Saturday, Meparidze bounced back in dominating fashion with a win over USC-Upstate's Jamie Yates, 6-2, 6-2, while Mikrovas dropped a tough match to the Spartan's Lenhard Haupt, falling 5-7, 6-3, 6-2. Ogden fell to Upstate's Rajanvir Dharni.
On the final day of the tournament, Mikrovas returned to wining ways with a, 1-6, 6-3, 6-0, victory over Richmond's Stathi Kyriakides, while Meparidze fell in a very close match, 7-6, 4-6, 7-6 to Jonathan Quenard of Richmond.
Fall Records:
Mikrovas has won four of his last five matches, spanning over two fall tournaments. The freshman did not play the first two tournaments, but is begin to heat up as he plays in regular tennis matches.
Meparidze's singles win at the tournament gives him his 10th of the season. He now leads the team in singles win this fall. The sophomore has played in four tournaments this fall, recording big wins in each tournament.
Ogden continues to progress as he builds toward the spring season. The redshirt freshman is set to play in two more tournaments this fall.

Individuals from the team will head to Winston-Salem, N.C., for the Wake Forest Invite. Matches are slated to begin Friday, Nov. 6.
