No. 20 NC State ended Duke's unbeaten start to the season, toppling the top-ranked Blue Devils 84-76 at PNC Arena Saturday afternoon. C.J. Leslie, the league's preseason player of the year, scored a game-high 25 points to lead all scorers, but senior Richard Howell's strong work in the paint helped his team overcome Duke's early-game advantage on the boards. Howell finished with 16 points and 18 rebounds, his ninth double-double of the season and the 22nd of his career. Howell had 14 rebounds in the second half alone.

In one memorable Sunday evening at the RBC Center, No. 21 NC State ended Duke's 18-game winning streak, while also preventing the Blue Devils from running away and hiding in the race for the ACC regular season title. And more than likely, the Wolfpack also pulled the plug on Duke's reign as college basketball's top-ranked team. Marcus Melvin and Julius Hodge scored 18 points apiece, Ilian Evtimov added 15 and Scooter Sherrill 11 as NC State sent 19,722 fans into a frenzy with a 78-74 victory over the Blue Devils.
