RALEIGH, N.C. - The NC State wrestling team will return to Reynolds Coliseum this weekend, as the Wolfpack (11-4) hosts Kent State on Saturday at 3 p.m. Admission is FREE for all fans, and the match will also be streamed live on GoPack.com All-Access.
Turner to be Honored
As part of the Pack's alumni weekend, NC State will be honoring 1988 national champion Scott Turner.
A two-time All-American, Turner placed third in 1986 and won it all in 1988 at 150 pounds. During his title run, he only gave up one point in his six bouts and was named the NCAA's Most Outstanding Wrestler. Turner was also a three-time ACC champion and four-time NCAA qualifier.
Against Kent State
Today's dual between the Pack and Kent State marks only the second all-time meeting between the two schools. Last year, the Golden Flashes defeated NC State 23-14 in Kent, Ohio.
Three Pack probables won matches that day: Sam Speno with a 3-2 decision at 141, Pete Renda with a 14-3 major decision at 174, and Nick Gwiazdowski with a 10-1 major decision at 285 pounds.
Making History
Defending NCAA Champion Nick Gwiazdowski will attempt to make history today. With a win, Gwiazdowski will set a new NC State school record for most consecutive wins during a Wolfpack career.
Gwiazdowski won his final 20 bouts last year enroute to an NCAA title, and is a perfect 21-0 this year putting his streak to 41 straight. He tied the mark of 41 by former Pack national champion Sylvester Terkay who won all 41 bouts his senior season.
During his time at NC State, Gwiazdowski has posted a 63-2 record, including 31-0 in duals, over the last two seasons. He was also 24-1 during his redshirt season in 2013.

NC State features: #28 Joe DeAngelo at 125, #32 Bryce Meredith at 133, #23 Sam Speno at 141 pounds, #17 Max Rohskopf at 165 pounds, #17 Pete Renda at 174, and #2 Nick Gwiazdowski (21-0) at 285 pounds.
