Gantt Places Third at Southern Scuffle

CHATTANOOGA, TENN. - The NC State wrestling team took 10 unattached wrestlers to the Southern Scuffle held Jan. 1-2. Senior Tommy Gantt, redshirting this season, entered as the eighth seed overall but defeated three ranked foes and brought home a third place finish at 157 pounds.
Among Gantt's win were a 10-5 decision over #10 Joey Lavallee of Missouri and a 6-5 decision over #7 Mitch Minotti of Lehigh. In the third place bout, Gantt defeated #17 Dylan Alton of Penn State, 5-2. Both Minotti and Alton are former All-Americans.
