Renda was a 2014 NCAA qualifier at 174 pounds and finished 27-11 on the season for the Pack. With his major not yet declared, Renda ended his freshman year with a 3.43 GPA. He was ranked the No. 2 rookie nationally at 174 pounds by Amateur Wrestling News, and his 27 wins are the third-most for a freshman in NC State history.
Renda finished third on the Pack with 27 wins, 16 dual wins were second-best and six pins were also second-best and he went 12-1 in bonus point matches.
RALEIGH, N.C. - NC State's Pete Renda was named to the 2014 NWCA True Freshmen All-Academic Team. The NWCA annually recognizes student-athletes who excel both on the mat and in the classroom.
