Renda Crowned FILA Junior Champion

LAS VEGAS, NEV. - Members of the NC State wrestling team were in action this past weekend, traveling to Las Vegas to take part in the U.S. Open and the FILA Junior National Championships. The highlight for the Pack was freshman Pete Renda earning medalist honors at the FILA Junior Championships at 174 pounds/79 KG.
Renda dominated his weight class, going a perfect 5-0 en route to the title. He outscored his opponents 54-2 for the tournament, including a 13-2 decision in the championship bout.
Also at the FILA Junior Championships, freshman Chad Pyke finished fourth at 163 pounds/74 KG, while redshirt-freshman Lee Davis took sixth at 174 pounds/79 KG.
Others competing for the Pack were: Beau Donahue (66 KG), Jake DeAngelo (66 KG), Brian Hamann (70 KG), Rodney Shepard (70 KG), Max Rohskopf (74 KG), and Mike Kosoy (120 KG).
Also completing in Las Vegas this weekend, Pack junior Tommy Gantt finished sixth at the U.S. Open (freestyle) at 74 KG, while former NC State wrestler Quinton Godley was fourth in the same weight class.
