Gwiazdowski Shares ACC Wrestler of the Week Honors

GREENSBORO, N.C. - A trio of Atlantic Coast Conference wrestlers who are unbeaten and have earned high national rankings have been named the initial ACC Wrestlers of the Week, the league announced Tuesday.
NC State junior heavyweight Nick Gwiazdowski (Delanson, N.Y.), Pitt senior 184-pounder Max Thomusseit (St. Paris, Ohio) and Virginia senior 165-pounder Nick Sulzer (Cleveland, Ohio) were named ACC tri-wrestlers of the week Tuesday for their performances through the first five weeks of the 2014-15 season.
Gwiazdowski, the defending national heavyweight champion, has posted a 15-0 record to date, including a 5-0 mark in dual meet competition. He captured individual honors at the prestigious Cliff Keen Las Vegas Collegiate Wrestling Invitational and also the Wolfpack Open. In Las Vegas, Gwiazdowski defeated 15th-ranked Blaize Cabelll of Northern Iowa and ninth-ranked Ty Waltz of Virginia Tech. He is ranked second nationally in the latest Intermat Wrestling Rankings.
