#23 Wrestling Heads to Northeast Duals on Saturday

RALEIGH, N.C. - The 23rd-ranked NC State wrestling team will be in action this weekend, traveling to Albany, N.Y. to compete in the Northeast Duals. The Wolfpack (4-1) will face Kutztown, Hofstra and #3 Cornell in dual action starting at 9:30 a.m. Saturday morning.
NC State is off to a 4-1 start this season, and is currently ranked #23 in this week’s USA Today/NWCA Division I Coaches Poll. The Pack is coming off a busy weekend of five home duals, defeating Gardner-Webb (26-8), Lindsey Wilson (27-9), American (22-13), and UNC Pembroke (29-9), and narrowly falling to #7 Nebraska (16-15) in a dual that saw both teams win five matches. Three NC State wrestlers are ranked this week according to InterMat: #2 Nick Gwiazdowski (285), #15 Sam Speno (141), and #18 Pete Renda (174).
• Kutztown Golden Bears (3-1)
Has posted wins over Alderson Broaddus (40-9), Johns Hopkins (44-6), and Pitt-Johnstown (25-9) while falling at Maryland (35-10).
• Hofstra Pride (1-2)
Downed Lock Haven (17-16), and has been defeated by #10 Lehigh (27-9) and Rutgers (33-6). The Pride has a pair of ranked grapplers this week: #15 Cody Ruggirello (149) and #17 Jamel Hudson (141).
• #3 Cornell Big Red (1-0)
Defeated #19 Oklahoma (21-13) in lone dual of the season. Seven of the 10 Cornell starters are ranked this week, including six in the top-10 nationally: #1 Gabe Dean (184), #2 Nahshon Garrett (125), #4 Brian Realbuto (157), #4 Dylan Palacio (165), #7 Chris Villalonga, #9 Mark Grey (141), and #15 Jace Bennett (197).
