Pack Wrestling to Host Five Dual Matches This Weekend

RALEIGH, N.C. - The NC State wrestling team will have a busy weekend, as the Wolfpack will host five dual matches in Reynolds Coliseum this weekend. The action starts Saturday against Gardner-Webb (1 p.m.) and #7 Nebraska (7 p.m.), and concludes Sunday with the Wolfpack Duals against Lindsey Wilson (11 a.m.), American (12:30 p.m.), and UNC Pembroke (2 p.m.). Admission is free in Reynolds Coliseum for all five duals.
The Saturday night dual against nationally ranked Nebraska will be televised by ESPN3, while the other four duals will all be available on GoPack All-Access - all are free to watch.
Among the Pack's probable starters, only four are returning from last year's squad (No. 19 finish at the NCAA Championships), with five true- or redshirt- freshmen vying to break into the lineup. The Pack does return redshirt senior Joe DeAngelo from a redshirt season last year, DeAngelo was a 2013 NCAA Qualifier at 125 pounds. Other NCAA Qualifiers to returns: Jr. Sam Speno (141), So. Pete Renda (174), and national champion Nick Gwiazdowski (285).
The NC State starters have competed in one open tournament so far this season, the Wolfpack Open last weekend. Three NC State wrestlers won their weight class and seven finished in the top-3 overall.
The Pack coaching staff will host a free clinic between Saturday's two duals, starting at 5 p.m. in Reynolds Coliseum. For more information, click here.
