Rifle Readies for Challenging Weekend at VMI

RALEIGH, N.C. - The NC State rifle team will head to Lexington, Va., this weekend for a challenging weekend of competition as the squad will compete against No. 2 Kentucky, No. 13 Army and host VMI. Saturday the Wolfpack will face the Army Black Knights and VMI Keydets, while Sunday's match will be a continuation with the Keydets in addition to a matchup with Kentucky.
In its last outing of the season, the Wolfpack suffered its first loss of the 2014-15 season to No. 9 Nebraska. Sophomore Lucas Kozeniesky led the squad at the match with a score of 587 in the air rifle competition and a 578 in smallbore.
Second-ranked Kentucky enters the weekend with a 1-0 record on the season, following a season-opening home win against Akron. The Wildcats will take on Navy on Saturday prior to their matchup with the Pack.
The Army Black Knights are 2-2 on the season, also suffering a loss to No. 9 Nebraska in their last outing. VMI is 2-3 to this point in the season with a loss to Morehead State in its last action.
State's contests against Army and Kentucky are Great America Rifle Conference (GARC) matches. The Pack is 0-1 in the GARC with the loss to Nebraska.
