Pack Rifle Falls at No. 3 West Virginia

MORGANTOWN, W. Va. - Three NC State shooters tied personal bests against No. 3 West Virginia, but the host Mountaineers fired a season high 4707 to best the Wolfpack's score of 4604.
Sophomore Alex Martin shot a career-best score of 584 in the air rifle competition to lead the Pack, while freshman Lucas Kozeniesky posted the next-best tally with a 583. Amy Roderer, a redshirt senior from Richmond, Vt., tied a personal record of 582 and sophomore Daniel Cliff tallied a 581 score. Senior Madeline Pike was the final counting shooter for State and recorded a 575.
As a team, the Wolfpack registered a score of 2330 in the event.
In smallbore, Cliff headlined the Pack's performance with a score of 574, while Kozeniesky and Roderer each shot a 566. Martin and Pike rounded out the lineup with scores of 568 and 558, respectively. State ended the competition with a team score of 2274.
Cliff, hailing from Fairfax, Va., also tied his career high in total score with an 1155 clip, as did Martin with an 1152 tally.
NC State falls to 16-7 on the season, including an 0-5 mark in Great America Rifle Conference (GARC) competition. West Virginia remains undefeated at 7-0 overall and 5-0 in GARC.
The Wolfpack returns to action on Saturday, Jan. 25, when it travels to Charleston, S.C., to compete against The Citadel and Virginia Military Institute.
