The North Carolina State women's golf team opens its 2013-14 year this weekend in Hanahan, S.C. The Pack will be one of 20 teams competing Charleston's Cougar Classic at Yeamans Hall Club.
NC State, ranked 20th in the preseason Golf World/WGCA Coaches Poll, enters this season with all of its starters back from last year's ACC runner-up squad. The nationally-ranked Wolfpack missed the NCAA Golf Championship final by one shot and the team's finish at the ACC tourney was its highest ever. With all of the returning leadership and experience for 2013-14, NC State is primed to climb even higher.
This weekend's tournament, hosted by College of Charleston, features 15 teams that competed in an NCAA Regional last spring. Four of the participating teams (Florida, NC State, LSU and Baylor) are ranked in the preseason Golf World/WGCA Coaches Poll. Florida is the defending tournament champion.
All-ACC performers Augusta James and Brittany Marchand will be at the top of the lineup, followed by Ana Menendez, Vivian Tsui and Rachael Taylor. The five Wolfpack players will be in the field when play begins Sunday, Sept. 8 at 8 a.m. ET.
