Wrestling Sends Three to U.S. World Team Trials

Raleigh, N.C. - Two current and one former member of the NC State wrestling team will be traveling to Stillwater, Okla., this weekend to compete in the U.S. World Team Trials.
Thomas Gantt (74 KG/163 lbs.), Quinton Godley (74 KG/163 lbs.) and Nick Gwiazdowski (120 KG/264.5 lbs.) will represent the Wolfpack Wrestling Club at the 2013 US World Team Trials. Gantt will be competing in the FILA Junior division, while Godley and Gwiazdowski will be competing at the Senior level. Gwiazdowski enters the event ranked ninth in the United States at the Senior level in his weight class.
Champions at this event will compete at the World Championships and the top three in each weight class will make the USA World Team. The Senior World Championships will be in Budapest, Hungary, and the FILA Junior World Championships will be in Sofia, Bulgaria.
Here's a look at State's representatives in the competition:
• Quinton Godley (starts June 21) - will have to wrestle through the challenge tournament for the right to wrestle the US Open Champion in best of three finals.
• Nick Gwiazdowski (starts June 22) - will have to wrestle through the challenge tournament for the right to wrestle the US Open Champion in best of three finals.
•>Thomas Gantt (starts June 23) - will have to wrestle through the challenge tournament for the right to wrestle the FILA JR Nationals Champion in best of three finals.
