Three Place at University World Team Trials

Junior Thomas Gantt also had a strong showing, placing fourth at 70 kg. Gantt started strong with four straight wins before his first loss. After a fifth win in the wrestle backs, Gantt fell in the third place match.
Former NC State wrestler Quinton Godley posted the top result of the weekend for Pack grapplers, as he finished second at 74 kg. Godley won his first five matches to advance to the finals, but fell to David Taylor of Penn State in the championship bout. Taylor was the NCAA Champion at 165 pounds in 2012 and the runner-up in 2013.
All three have advanced to the World Team Trials June 20-23, in Stillwater, Okla.
Redshirt senior KaRonne Jones was in action after redshirting the 2012-13 season. Jones scored a 10-2 decision in his first bout over Derrick Borlie of Virginia Tech, a 2013 NCAA Qualifier who won a pair of matches at the 2013 NCAA Championships. Jones recorded three wins before being eliminated.
