ATLANTA - Marissa Kastanek and Scott Wood competed in the State Farm 3-Point Championship Thursday night before a crowd of 7,749 fans at McCamish Pavilion on the campus of Georgia Tech. The program was broadcast live on ESPN.
Kastanek finished second in the event to Indiana's Aulani Sinclair. The Wolfpack star scored 24 points in the first round, the highest number posted among the men's and women's 16 shooters in the competition.
Wood wound up fourth in the men's side. He opened with 21 points in the first round, but his 18-point effort in the semifinals was short of making the finals.
Heading into the second round as the leader, Kastanek posted 17 points to advance to the finals against Sinclair, who had 20 points in her second-round effort.
Kastanek again finished with 17 points in her championship round, however, Sinclair was able to post 20 to bring home the title.
VCU's Troy Daniels won the men's championship, and outscored Sinclair, 23-15, and was crowned the Pepsi MAX Battle of the Champions winner.
