Wrestling to Host Intrasquad Competition Friday Night

RALEIGH, N.C. – The 2013-14 edition of the NC State wrestling team will be on display for the first time Friday night, as the Wolfpack will open the season with wrestle-offs at 7 p.m. in Carmichael Gymnasium. The event is free and open to the public, and will be held on Courts 1 & 2, which are located on the second floor.
The event will consist of nine matches, many of which will determine the starting lineup for the Wolfpack this season. Traditional team scores will not be kept and the winning team will be decided by total matches won.
Honorary Team Captains for the event will be Wolfpack Wrestling Alumni Chris Mondragon and Steve Williams. Mondragon was an All-American and three-time ACC Champion, while Williams was also an All-American and a two-time ACC Champion.

Wisconsin state placer Randy Shine and New Jersey state placer Brian Hamann will wrestle for the starting spot at 149 pounds. Shine and Hamann, both freshmen, advanced through a six-man mini tournament to advance to the finals bout.
