CHAPEL HILL, N.C.- Three NC State women's golf players scored two-over 74s but the Wolfpack fell a bit in the teams standings during the second round of the Ruth's Chris Tar Heel Invitational on Saturday.
Augusta James, Vivian Tsui and Ana Menendez tied for the team lead, with Brittany Marchand one shot behind them with a 75. Rachael Taylor carded a 77, but was the only Wolfpack player to record three birdies. She said the team needs to get off to a good start in the tourney's final round on Sunday.
"We're working to get a good start and stay positive and to not let the course get the best of you," Taylor said.
"We worked hard after the round to be mentally ready for a good day tomorrow," head coach Page Marsh said. "We really enjoy playing this course and are looking to give it our best tomorrow."
NC State is tied with Auburn and South Carolina for 11th in the 18-team field after 36 holes. Duke, on the strength of a six-under 282 team score, is 12 strokes ahead of Alabama for the team lead.
Individually, James (+2) is leading NC State and stands 22nd overall. Tsui (+3) is 32nd and Menendez (+5) is 47th. Clemson's Ashlan Ramsey (-7) is the leading individual.
