RALEIGH, N.C. - There's been little time for 19th-ranked NC State to enjoy Saturday's victory over Triangle rival North Carolina. On Sunday, Mark Gottfried and his Wolfpack turned their attention to preparing for Tuesday's game at Virginia.
The game is set for a 7 p.m. tip on ESPN2.
It's a match-up of offenses on opposite sides of the ledger. NC State boasts the top scoring offense in the ACC at 79.8 points per game, while Virginia is posting 62.8 points per contest.
Virginia comes into the contest with the best scoring defense in the ACC, allowing its opponents 51.0 points a game.
Last season, the Pack broke a four-game losing streak against the Cavs with a 67-64 quarterfinal victory in the ACC Tournament. The win helped NC State secure a spot in the NCAA Tournament.
The Pack's last regular-season win over the Cavs was a 72-62 victory on Feb. 21, 2009, and its last win in Charlottesville was an 82-72 victory on March 2, 2005.
From 1955 until 2008, the two schools met at least twice a year in conference contests, with the Wolfpack building an 81-58 advantage in the series. The Pack has compiled a 23-37 record in Charlottesville, at Virginia's three basketball arenas: Memorial Gymnasium, University Hall and John Paul Jones Arena.
