RALEIGH, N.C. - No. 13 NC State (19-7, 8-4 ACC) takes a four-game road trip this week, opening with a midweek tilt at Old Dominion (10-18, 2-7 CAA) Wednesday, before heading to Maryland for an ACC weekend series.
The Wolfpack's Danny Healey (3-0, 2.08 ERA) will take the mound, fresh off of claiming the win in State's dramatic Sunday comeback over Virginia. Healey will square off against right-hander C.J. Huyett (1-1, 5.70).
The Pack must keep its momentum rolling after taking two of three from Virginia last weekend. With the series win, NC State fell to 13th in the Collegiate Baseball Newspaper, rose to 17th in Baseball America, and held steady at 22nd in the USA Today/ESPN Coaches Poll.
State also holds some lofty spots in the latest RPI and Strength-of-Schedule numbers. The Wolfpack comes in fifth in RPI in according to both Boyd's World and WarrenNolan.com. Nolan also has the Pack ranked second in strength of schedule.
Freshman Trea Turner has climbed to 27-for-27 on stolen bases this year to lead the nation, but he may have some company soon, as teammate Jake Fincher has started to tear up the basepaths as well. Fincher ranks second in the ACC with 12 stolen bases after three against Virginia, giving State a 1-2 combo of freshmen at the top of the conference leaderboard.
Wednesday's game against Old Dominion will not be carried on the radio, but 88.1 WKNC will return with coverage for the weekend series with Maryland. Fans can follow Twitter updates from @NCStateBaseball, and live stats will be available at GoPack.com.
