Raleigh, N.C. -
Camden Wentz, a rising senior center, is one of four upperclassmen who will lead an experienced group of offensive linemen this fall. Wentz has started all 26 games the past two seasons for the Pack at center. He suffered an injury during the 2011 Belk Bowl that caused him to miss the majority of the game, but is back at practice and ready for a successful fall season.
Q: Are you back 100 percent from your injury?
Wentz: Yes, I am fully recovered.
Q: How does having four senior offensive linemen help you?
Wentz: I think it's a good thing for us. I've been working with a lot of those guys for four years now, so we can focus more on the X's and O's and less on the fundamentals, because we already have those down for the most part. We can spend more time fine tuning the specifics and running the plays instead.
Q: This is your second year working with Mike Glennon, are things going smoother during spring practice this year as opposed to last year?
Wentz: I don't think it's really going any smoother really. This is actually my third spring working with Mike as our quarterback, because he was the quarterback for spring practice three years ago as well, when Russell was still here. Mike is great, and he and I have a great relationship both on and off the field, so I think that helps as well.
Q: What does an offensive lineman do during the spring to prepare for the fall?
Wentz: A lot of our focus is on getting stronger. We spend a lot of time in the weight room lifting and really building our strength. Everyone has one area, one thing that they need to improve on, and spring practice is a great time to do that.
Q: What is that one thing for you?
Wentz: For me, I would say it's following through with the plays. I'll make a good play but then sometimes I won't necessarily follow through with it, and that can lead to them beating me down the field or missing a tackle. I've been working really this spring hard during practice and the scrimmages to work on that.
