RALEIGH, N.C. - NC State's Brittany Marchand took home Golfweek Player of the Week honors for her win at the Pinehurst Spring Challenge, announced Thursday by Golfweek.com.
Marchand became the first Wolfpack women's golfer to win multiple events in a single season, extending her lead as the all-time winningest golfer in program history, by storming the top of the leaderboard with a final round 4-under 68 to make up a three-shot deficit at Pinehurst No. 6.
The win marks Marchand's second in her last three events, and helped No. 21 NC State blow away a 14-team field by 17 strokes to win its school-record tying third event of the season.
Marchand's 68 ties for the second-best round in program history, representing her career low, and granted her the third medalist honor of her career. Her 5-under 211 total falls one shot shy of her career-low, a 210 fired earlier this year.
NC State returns to the links on April 6 for three days at the Bryan National Collegiate, the final tuneup before April 13's ACC Championship in Greensboro, N.C.
