Raleigh, N.C. -
Members of the Wolfpack football team, past and present, gathered last night at Sullivan’s Steakhouse in Raleigh for the squad’s annual awards dinner. The event was held on Tuesday evening since most of last year’s seniors are in town for today’s Pro Day workouts.
Cornerback David Amerson, the winner of the 2011 Jack Tatum Award, was named the recipient of the 2011 Governor’s Award, given to the member of the Wolfpack football team who is the most valuable player based on ability, contribution, leadership and intangibles. Amerson, who was also named the team’s Most Valuable Defensive Back, was a first-team All-ACC performer and a finalist for the Thorpe Award last season, when he set the ACC single-season record for interceptions.
The Governor’s Award is the only honor that is voted on by the entire team. The other awards are decided by the coaching staff. Here’s a look at some of the other awards that were presented at the dinner.
