RALIEGH, N.C. - NC State is looking to extend its winning streak to five games when it takes on St. Bonaventure on Saturday afternoon at PNC Arena at 3 p.m.
This is the third meeting between NC State and St. Bonaventure.
The series tied 1-1 after C.J. Leslie’s acrobatic layup with 0.6 left gave the Wolfpack a 67-65 victory over St. Bonaventure on the road at the Blue Cross Arena in Rochester, N.Y., last season.
C.J. Williams, a former high school quarterback, inbounded the ball from the Bonnies’ end line. Williams’ pass traveled the length of the court and into Leslie’s hands to the left of the Pack’s basket.
He then spun, flipped the ball up and over a defender. The ball danced around the rim before falling through for the winning basket.
Scott Wood scored a season-high 20 points to lead the Wolfpack and Leslie had 12.
The other meeting between the two programs occurred in the first round of the 1970 NCAA Tournament with St. Bonaventure coming away with an 80-68 victory.
Since last year’s meeting was played on what was considered a neutral court, Saturday’s game will be the first to played on either team’s home court.
Over the last four games, the Pack has been paced by senior Richard Howell, who is averaging a double-double of 14.8 points and 14.0 rebounds. He is seeking to post his sixth double dip in NC State’s last seven games.
Saturday’s game will be broadcast on ESPN3 with the tandem of Ryan Rose (play-by-play) and Nate Ross (color analyst) on the call. The contest can also be heard on the NC State radio network with Gary Hahn providing a description of the action and Tony Haynes handling the breakdown of the action on the court. Subscribers to SiriusXM satellite radio can hear the game on Sirius channel 92 and XM channel 190.
