MBB Ranked Fifth In Sports Illustrated Preseason Poll

RALEIGH, N.C. - The NC State men's basketball team is one of four ACC schools ranked in the Sports Illustrated preseason top 25 poll. The No. 5 Wolfpack is the highest ranked squad of the four conference schools.
During the preseason, NC State has been ranked as high as No. 4 by Blue Ribbbon Yearbook. The Pack also was tabbed as the nation's No. 6 team by both the Associated Press and the ESPN/USA Today Coaches' preseason rankings.
NC State returns starters junior guard Lorenzo Brown (12.7 points per game, 6.3 assist per game), junior forward C.J. Leslie (14.7 ppg, 7.3 rebounds per game), senior forward Scott Wood (12.4 ppg, .409 3-pt percentage) and junior forward Richard Howell (10.8 ppg, 9.2 rpg) from last year's Sweet Sixteen squad and features a freshman class of McDonald's All-Americans Tyler Lewis, Rodney Purvis and T.J. Warren.
Leslie was picked as the league's preseason player of the year by the media and coaches, while Purvis was picked as the freshman of the year by both groups.
