RALEIGH, N.C. — After seeing five of his teammates chosen on Tuesday, NC State righthander Rob Chamra had his draft wishes answered Wednesday when the Los Angeles Dodgers called his name in the 34th round of the Major League Baseball First Year Player Draft.
Chamra joined teammates Cory Mazzoni (Mets, 2nd round), Pratt Maynard (Dodgers, 3rd round), Harold Riggins (Rockies, 7th round), Brett Williams (Diamondbacks, 25th round) and John Gianis (Angels, 26th round), who all were selected on Tuesday, the second day of the 50-round draft.
Chamra came on strong the second half of the season for the Wolfpack, joining the starting rotation to stay in April and making 10 starts in 17 appearances overall. He led the team in wins with an 8-3 record and posted a 4.35 ERA. He had wins over Top 5 powers North Carolina and Virginia in back-to-back weekends.
