
Ogburn, Thomas, Williams Make ACC's All-Academic Team

RALEIGH, N.C. -- NC State pitchers Ethan Ogburn, D.J. Thomas and Vance Williams have been named to the Atlantic Coast Conference's All-Academic Baseball Team, which was released by the conference office Friday.
To be eligible for consideration for the 41-man team, a student-athlete must have earned a 3.0 grade-point average for the previous semester and maintained a 3.0 cumulative grade-point average during his academic career.
Ogburn, a mechanical engineering major, was a sophomore righthander in 2011. He made 20 appearances, including eight starts, and was third on the staff with 61 2/3 innings pitched. He went 6-4 with a 4.52 ERA. He allowed 65 hits, struck out 47 and walked 21.
Williams, also a mechanical engineering major, was a fourth-year junior righthander the 2011 season. He was 2-0 with a 3.61 ERA in 14 appearances, four of them starts. He worked 42 1/3 innings, allowed 34 hits, walked 20 and struck out 33 while holding opposing hitters to a .222 batting average.
