ATLANTA, Ga. -
NC State senior catcher Alyssa Allbritten has been named to the 2011 ACC All-Tournament team. The Palm Harbor, Fla., native posted a 1-for-2 performance at the plate during the Wolfpack's 4-3 loss to Maryland on Friday.
Against the Terrapins, Allbritten smashed a two-run home run in the second inning to give the Pack a 2-0 lead. The blast was her fourth of 2011, but would not prove to be enough, as the squad fell to Maryland in the bottom of the seventh inning on a walk-off single.
"I am so proud of Alyssa for being recognized for her performance," says head coach Lisa Navas. "Big time players perform in big games, which she did for us all season and her entire career. We will miss having Alyssa next year."
Allbritten finishes the season ranked second in batting average for the Pack with a .320 mark. Her 24 runs, seven doubles and 30 RBI are all tied for tops on the squad.
