NC State Hosts Florida State: NC State concludes its regular season by hosting Florida State on Sunday at 6:15 p.m. The Wolfpack (15-14, 5-10 ACC) has won two of its last three ACC home games, and could be playing to determine its seed for the ACC Tournament.
The Seminoles (20-9, 10-5 ACC) have already clinched a first-round bye in next week's ACC Tournament, and will be playing for either the third or fourth seed. Florida State has won four of its last six ACC contests, and are 7-5 away from Tallahassee this season.
This game will be televised nationally on Fox Sports Net with Tim Brando (play-by-play), Mike Gminiski (analyst) and Jenn Hildreth (sideline).
Wolfpack Celebrates Senior Day: NC State will be celebrating Senior Day on Sunday. Guards Javier Gonzalez and Enrico Kufuor as well as forward Tracy Smith will all be honored prior to the game.
Gonzalez has started 84 career contests and played in 120 total. He currently ranks 14th on the Pack's all-time assist list with 332 for his career. Kufour joined the Pack as a walk-on prior to the 2008-09 season, and has appeared in 16 career contests. Smith became only the 25th player in school history to collect at least 1,000 career points and 500 career rebounds, and currently ranks 33rd on the Pack's all-time scoring list with 1,218 points.
Under Sidney Lowe, the Pack has won three of its four on Senior Day contests.
The Series Versus Florida State: Sunday's matchup will mark the 47th meeting between NC State and Florida State. The Wolfpack leads the overall series, which dates back to the 1955-56 season, 27-19.
NC State has won 17 of the last 22 games against FSU, with the Seminoles' only wins during that span coming in Raleigh in 2005, 2008, 2009 and at FSU in 2007 and earlier this season.
NC State also holds a 14-6 edge in games played in Raleigh, including a 6-3 mark in games at the RBC Center. The Seminoles have won three of the last four in Raleigh, with NC State's last home win coming during the 2005-06 season.
Earlier This Season Season Versus Florida State: Earlier this season at Tallahassee, Florida State came out of halftime with a 28-19 lead, and hit its first eight field goal attempts of the second half, and 13 of its first 15, and pulled away from NC State for the 84-71 win on January 15. The Seminoles shot 69.2 percent (18-26) in the second half, and built their lead to as many as 22 points before the Pack ended the game on a 14-5 run. NC State shot 26.7 percent (8-30) in the first half, scoring just 19 points. Tracy Smith had a team-high 19 points, and freshman Ryan Harrow made his first career start and finished with 17 points, including 8-of-8 from the free throw line.
Last Time Out for NC State: Virginia opened the game on a 16-0 run and never lost the lead, as the Cavs downed the visiting Wolfpack, 69-58, on Tuesday. NC State responded to Virginia's hot start with a 17-2 run, and went into the half down just 32-28. UVA put together a 10-3 run to start the second half and held on for the win. The Pack once again battled back and cut the score to 50-44 with 9:21, but never got any closer the rest of the way. NC State got a season-best 16 points from Javier Gonzalez off the bench, with Tracy Smith the only other Pack player in double figures with 10 points.
Wood Shines Against Florida State: Scott Wood’s two highest scoring games last season both took place against Florida State. In those two contests, he averaged 24.5 points, thanks in large part to hitting 16-of-25 three-pointers in the two Wolfpack wins.
In the lone regular season contest against the No. 25 Seminoles, Wood scored a career-high 31 points going 7-11 from deep to help lead the Pack to an 88-81 victory at FSU. He was named the ACC Rookie of the Week for his performance.
Then in the ACC Tournament, Wood connected on six three-pointers and finished with 18 points in the quarterfinal win.
Earlier this season at Florida State, Wood hit 3-of-7 three pointers and finished with 10 points in 26 minutes.
In three career games against the Seminoles, Wood has averaged 19.8 points (16-of-28 on three-pointers) and reached double figures in each contest.
